Operations at the Sonamasjid land port in Chapainawabganj have normalized after three days. On Thursday evening, following a meeting between port-related business associations and customs officials, several freight-laden trucks from India entered the port.

The development was confirmed by Sonamasjid C&F Agents Association President Mobibur Rahman. He stated that customs officials had been harassing employees by arbitrarily withholding identity cards, creating unnecessary complications after file submission, and introducing new rules. In particular, they raised allegations of arbitrariness, indecent behavior, and unreasonable obstruction in cargo clearance against Customs Superintendent Mizanur Rahman. Consequently, employees of C&F agents had been observing a work stoppage since Tuesday morning to demand the cessation of such harassment and action against the concerned official.

As a result, due to a severe space crisis within the port, no new freight trucks could enter from India. Without loading and unloading, about 450 trucks were stranded at the port, 400 of which were laden with stone, while the remaining trucks carried coconuts, bran, dried fish, and other goods.

Meanwhile, Sonamasjid Import-Export Group General Secretary Ariful Islam Iti stated that misunderstandings between both parties were resolved at the customs office in the presence of the commissioner's representative, thereby neutralizing the crisis. All stranded freight trucks on both sides of the border are now operating normally in compliance with rules.
