Sports equipment and footballs have been distributed among participating players ahead of the upcoming "Deshnetri Morhuma Begum Khaleda Zia Memorial Gold Cup Football Tournament-2026," featuring 26 teams from the Dinajpur-6 constituency.
The distribution took place on Sunday night at the office of Professor Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain MP, Minister for Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs, located in Birampur, Dinajpur.
Organized under the leadership of Tournament Committee Convener Ferdous Rahman, the event was attended by committee member Associate Professor Alhaj Mushfiqur Rahman, Assistant Professor Md. Anwarul Habib Riton, Anwarul Islam Rubel, Morshed Manik, Convener of the Dinajpur Southern Region Journalists Unity Forum, and other media personnel.
The organizers stated that 26 teams from various areas under Dinajpur-6 will compete in the tournament. Necessary sports gear, including footballs, was distributed to encourage the teams.
Tournament Convener Ferdous Rahman announced that the event will officially kick off on the afternoon of October 3 at the Birampur Big Ground. State Minister for Youth and Sports Aminul Haq is scheduled as a special guest, while Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs Minister Professor Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain MP is expected to grace the opening ceremony as the chief patron and chief guest.
The organizers hope this tournament will further foster local sports culture and enhance youth engagement.
