Sylhet-2 Member of Parliament Tahsina Rushdir Luna stated that conspiracies were hatched to erase the name of martyred President Ziaur Rahman and his family from history, but those conspirators are no longer in the country, and Ziaur Rahman’s ideals and nationalist politics could not be eradicated.

She made these remarks on Saturday (November 7) afternoon while addressing a discussion meeting as the chief guest, organized by the upazila BNP and associate bodies at South Goalabazar in Osmaninagar, Sylhet, to mark National Revolution and Solidarity Day.

Luna stated, "On November 7, 1975, amidst a critical national juncture, martyred President Ziaur Rahman stepped to the center of national leadership through the historic sepoy-mass uprising. Subsequently, he initiated a new trend in national politics by establishing the philosophy of Bangladeshi nationalism and founding the BNP. His 19-point program played a vital role in the country's development and progress."

She further added, "For the past 17 years, the observance of this historic November 7 day was suppressed. Tarique Rahman, the successor of Ziaur Rahman, has been elected Prime Minister of the country with a massive majority. Following Ziaur Rahman's developmental philosophy, the current Prime Minister is taking the nation forward through the 31-point program."

Concluding her speech, she demanded the safe return of former Member of Parliament M. Ilias Ali unharmed to his family.

Presided over by Upazila BNP President S. T. M. Fakhor Uddin and conducted by General Secretary Abdullah Misbah, the meeting was addressed by Upazila Jubo Dal Convenor Fazal Ahmad Jony, Krishak Dal Convenor Mukhtar Ahmad Bokul, Swechchhasebak Dal Convenor Rakib Ali, and Chhatra Dal Convenor Jueb Ahmad. A large number of leaders and activists from the upazila BNP and its associate organizations attended the event.

Following the discussion meeting, a rally was brought out from South Goalabazar, which paraded through key thoroughfares and concluded at the upazila BNP office in North Goalabazar.
