Local journalists in Ishwardi, Pabna, held a protest meeting on Saturday at the Ishwardi Press Club to condemn the inclusion of young journalist Sourav Kumar Debnath Krishna as an accused in the Mehedi Hasan Akib murder case.
Journalist leaders alleged that Sourav was maliciously framed to harass him in retaliation for his investigative reporting on local sand quarries and political activities.
The speakers issued a 48-hour ultimatum to withdraw his name from the charges, threatening continuous protests if the demand is not met. Chaired by Ishwardi Press Club President Abdul Mannan Tipu, the meeting was addressed by various prominent journalist leaders and representatives from national media outlets who demanded a fair and neutral police investigation.
