To promote environmental preservation and safeguard local bird species, the Sherpur Bird Club and the environmental organization 'Shine' jointly organized a tree plantation and awareness leaflet distribution campaign. The program was conducted on Thursday morning (September 17) at the Boyra Paranpur Government Primary School premises.
The initiative was carried out with the collaboration of the Wildlife Management and Nature Conservation Department of Sherpur and Salt-Candy Tours and Travel. During the event, various forest, fruit-bearing, and medicinal saplings—including banyan, kadam, chalta, amlaki, gab, amra, and deuwa—were planted across the school grounds.
The program was attended by Suman Sarkar, Wildlife and Biodiversity Conservation Officer of the Wildlife Management and Nature Conservation Department in Sherpur, along with Md. Mugniur Rahman Moni, Executive Director of 'Shine' and senior journalist, alongside other teachers and enthusiastic students. Following the tree plantation, awareness leaflets focused on nature and bird conservation were distributed among the school children.
Md. Mugniur Rahman Moni, Founder President of the Sherpur Bird Club and Executive Director of 'Shine', noted that every year his organization plants bird- and eco-friendly forest, fruit, and medicinal trees across educational institutions, Eidgahs, roadside spaces, and open areas, while also distributing saplings to students and the general public. He added that approximately 5,000 saplings are slated for plantation and distribution this year.
