Faridpur District Police have successfully arrested the primary accused and recovered the firearm used in the sensational shooting incident targeting a pedestrian on the Dhaka-Khulna Expressway within the Bhanga municipality area of Faridpur.
The incident drew widespread public concern after a video of the shooting went viral on social media and was extensively broadcast across news outlets. Promptly responding, the Faridpur District Police launched an intensive investigation and registered a case at Bhanga Police Station (Case No. 06, dated September 10, 2026) under Section 19A of the Arms Act and Sections 307/506 of the Penal Code.
Addressing a press briefing at the Faridpur Superintendent of Police office on Thursday afternoon, Faridpur Superintendent of Police Shahriar Mohammad Miyaji shared detailed updates regarding the breakthrough.
He informed journalists that with the cooperation of RAB-1, Dhaka, a special team of the Faridpur District Police apprehended the prime suspect and seized the vehicle utilized in the commission of the crime. Acting on information provided by the arrested suspect, a specialized police team subsequently recovered a .22 bore revolver used in the shooting.
Legal procedures concerning the case are underway, and ongoing investigations continue to unearth all underlying aspects of the incident. Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration and Finance) Fatema Islam, Additional Superintendent of Police (DSB) Raihan Gafur, and Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Ajmir Hossain, alongside other senior district police officials and representatives of print and electronic media, were present at the briefing.
