Two passengers were killed when a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw collided with a covered van in Panchdona, Narsingdi. The accident occurred on Friday (September 25) at around 9:00 AM in front of Bhatpara Bazar on the Panchdona-Tongi road. The victims have been identified as Saidul Islam (22), son of Khorshed Alam from Antrampur area of Char-Dighaldi union in Narsingdi Sadar upazila, and Nur Uddin, son of Haris Mollah from South Matail para of Ashulia.
According to police and eyewitnesses, a passenger-carrying CNG auto-rickshaw set off from Gazipur toward Narsingdi at 8:00 AM. Upon reaching the Bhatpara road in Panchdona at 9:00 AM, the auto-rickshaw collided with the rear of an oncoming covered van while attempting an overtake.
The impact resulted in the instant death of passenger Nur Uddin, while Saidul Islam died on the way to the hospital. Upon receiving the news, Madhabdi police station personnel recovered Nur Uddin's body and took the CNG driver into custody.
Madhabdi Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Md. Josim stated that both bodies have been recovered and sent to the Narsingdi Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy. Further legal action will be taken following discussions with the victims' families.
