Family members accused in the death of university student Nafiul Karim Sohan (23) in Faridpur upazila, Pabna, held a press conference on Saturday afternoon at Dighulia Bazar to protest what they described as a "false and harassing murder case" filed by the victim's parents.
Nafiul, a Pharmacy student at Gonoshasthaya Kendra University, was found dead on June 9, 2024, after sleeping at home, with family initially burying him believing he died of a heart attack or stroke.
However, six months later, his mother Nasima Akhter filed a murder case accusing uncles Nazrul Islam Chand, Ibrahim Hossain, and cousins over land disputes. Speaking at the press conference, accused uncle Nazrul Islam Chand—who spent 45 days in jail before securing bail—denied the allegations, demanded a speedy forensic report to reveal the true cause of death, and condemned the ongoing harassment.
