DHAKA — The scent of fresh print will linger five days longer. Organisers have extended the Amar Ekushey Book Fair till March 5 as footfall crossed 6 million and sales topped Tk 60 crore — both records.
Children's hour drew unprecedented families, with publishers reporting that comics and science books outsold romance for the first time. 'My 8-year-old dragged me to buy a book on rockets. Rockets!' beamed father Imran Khan of Dhanmondi.
This year's surprise bestseller: a graphic novel on the July uprising, 'Twenty-four', which sold 40,000 copies in a week. 'The revolution will be illustrated,' quipped its 24-year-old author.
