Saudi NCM Issues Red and Orange Weather Alerts Amid Heavy Thunderstorms and Dense Fog
National Center of Meteorology warning map indicating Red and Orange alert zones across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia’s National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has issued high-level Red and Orange weather alerts across multiple provinces, warning residents of dense fog, heavy thunderstorms, strong downdraft winds, and potential flash flooding.

According to the official forecast released on Sunday, November 1, 2026, Red Alerts—indicating severe weather hazards requiring maximum caution—were issued for parts of the Eastern Province (including Al Khafji and Al Udayd) due to extremely thick fog reducing horizontal visibility. Red weather warnings were also placed over governorates in Madinah and Hail due to heavy rain and active thunderstorm activity.

Concurrently, Orange Alerts—signaling potentially dangerous weather conditions—have been activated across the Northern Borders, Hail, Makkah, Asir, Al-Baha, and Jazan regions for moderate to heavy rainfall. NCM meteorologists warned that thunderstorms across Jazan, Asir, Al-Baha, Makkah, Madinah, and the Northern Borders could generate torrential rain and hail, increasing flash flood risks in low-lying valleys. Furthermore, strong winds in the Riyadh and Al-Qassim areas are expected to kick up blowing sand and dust storms, with Saudi Civil Defense urging all citizens and residents to adhere to safety guidelines.
