Thousands of Israeli protesters took to the streets of commercial capital Tel Aviv late Saturday night, October 31, 2026, demanding that main opposition leader Gadi Eisenkot form a historic governing coalition with Arab-led parties to oust Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The political upheaval follows the 26th Knesset elections held on October 27, 2026, where predominantly Arab parties achieved a record 19 seats—positioning them as ultimate political kingmakers in Israeli parliamentary history. Out of the 120-seat Knesset, neither Netanyahu’s right-wing bloc (53 seats) nor Eisenkot’s opposition bloc (48 seats) managed to secure the 61-seat majority required to govern independently. Protesters highlighted that combining Eisenkot’s opposition alliance with the Arab-led lists would command a strong 67-seat majority, effectively bringing an end to Netanyahu’s long-standing rule.

The political deadlock leaves Israel facing prolonged coalition negotiations, with official election results scheduled to be confirmed by November 4 ahead of the swearing-in of the new Knesset.
