DHAKA — Speedy trial tribunals have disposed of 5,000 long-pending cases in eight months by holding evening sessions and hiring retired judges on contract.

The law ministry says the pilot will expand to all divisions, targeting cases older than five years first.

Litigants who waited a decade called the verdicts bittersweet — justice, at last, but late.
