DHAKA — A Tk 10 crore Journalist Safety Fund was launched yesterday to provide legal aid, emergency relocation and medical support to reporters facing threats or attacks.
An independent board of editors, lawyers and rights activists will decide grants within 48 hours of an application.
Press groups called it long overdue, noting that district correspondents face the greatest risks with the fewest resources.
