Police have detained 23 individuals in capital Dhaka's Mirpur area on Monday morning, November 2, 2026, as readymade garment (RMG) workers attempting to demand a minimum wage increase tried to reassemble on the streets.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) of DMP Mirpur Division Hasan Mohammad Nasser Rikabder confirmed the detentions, stating that groups of workers attempted to gather at Mirpur-14 and Mirpur-10 early in the morning to organize street demonstrations. However, law enforcement personnel swiftly intervened, chasing the agitators back into factory premises and apprehending 23 individuals suspected of attempting to incite fresh violence.

This action follows the arrest of 11 individuals on Sunday, November 1, in connection with the arson of a police vehicle beneath the Mirpur-11 Metro Rail Station and attacks on fire service vehicles. DC Hasan Mohammad Nasser Rikabder emphasized that extra police forces along with specialized security units have been stationed throughout the Mirpur industrial belt to preserve public order, prevent vandalism, and deter further unlawful gatherings.
