The distribution of compensation checks has been inaugurated for landowners whose lands were acquired for the construction and expansion of the road from Hili zero point to the Women's College under the Joypurhat-Hili highway development project in Dinajpur. Organized by the Dinajpur district administration, the check distribution program was launched on Thursday (September 24). Dinajpur Deputy Commissioner Md. Rafiqul Islam handed over compensation checks to the affected landowners at the event.
In the first phase, compensation checks amounting to nearly Tk 10 crore were distributed among 23 affected landowners for the land acquired to construct and expand the road from Hili zero point up to the Women's College. Speaking during the check distribution, the Deputy Commissioner stated that whenever land acquisition is required for road development and the modernization of the communication system, legal compensation will be ensured for those affected. Steps are being taken to pay the rightful dues of affected landowners in a timely manner alongside their cooperation in implementing government development activities.
The landowners expressed satisfaction upon receiving the compensation checks, stating that they had been waiting for a long time to receive their compensation money due to the prolonged land acquisition process, and felt relieved to finally have the checks in hand. The Joypurhat (Hichmi)-Puran Aipol-Panchbibi-Hili (including town link) highway development project is a vital initiative for improving the road communication system in the northern region. Officials hope that once implemented, the communication network in this region, including the Hili land port, will be further enhanced.
