Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives (LGRD) Minister Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan stated that Bangladesh considers China to be one of its closest allies, emphasizing that cooperation between the two nations spans trade, investment, infrastructure, energy, industry, and culture.
Speaking as the chief guest at a reception organized in Dhaka on Wednesday evening (September 23, 2026) to celebrate China's 77th National Day, the Minister expressed Bangladesh's keen interest in learning from China's expertise in large-scale digitalization, technological innovation, and infrastructure development. He noted that high-level exchanges—including Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's recent state visit to China—have paved the way for landmark projects and long-term economic support.
Addressing the gathering, Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen reaffirmed Beijing's backing of Bangladesh's independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and non-interference in its internal matters. Ambassador Yao highlighted that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s visit successfully elevated bilateral ties to a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, adding that China-Bangladesh relations are currently at an all-time high. The event was attended by senior government officials and political leaders, including Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed and BNP Acting Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
