Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 546 individuals and filed 62 cases during drives conducted across the capital over a 24-hour period, according to a press statement released on Thursday (September 24, 2026).
DMP Media and Public Relations Division Deputy Commissioner Md. Akter Hossain confirmed the figures, breaking down the arrests across key police divisions: Mirpur Division led with 125 arrests, followed by Tejgaon (109), Wari (77), Motijheel (73), Lalbagh (45), Gulshan (42), Ramna (37), and Uttara (34). Additionally, specialized units accounted for four arrests, with the Detective Branch (DB) apprehending three individuals and the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit arresting one. During the drives, law enforcement seized fragments of exploded crude bombs, 4.12 kg of cannabis, 2,196 yaba pills, 51 grams of heroin, 30 bottles of foreign liquor, five mobile phones, and a private car. Police authorities confirmed that legal proceedings and formal charges against the arrestees are currently underway across respective police stations.
