A Dhaka court has granted a 4-day police remand for Ahmed Shahriar Reza Deep (23) in connection with the murder of former Bangladesh Air Force officer KM Tahsif Sauri (27), whose body was floating in the Turag River in Dhaka's Uttarkhan area.

Investigating officers produced the suspect before the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court on Saturday, October 31, 2026, under a murder case filed at Uttarkhan Police Station (Penal Code Sections 302, 201, and 34). Although the prosecution requested a 7-day remand on 5 specific grounds, the court approved 4 days for custodial interrogation.

According to police records, Tahsif went missing around 6:00 PM on October 27 after leaving home with Deep. On October 28, police responded to a 999 emergency call regarding an unidentified floating body near Rajabari Ghat on the Turag River. Officers identified Tahsif using an iPhone found in his trouser pocket during the inquest. Technological tracking later revealed Deep accompanied Tahsif to the Mazar Slum area in Tongi West. Deputy Commissioner (DC) of DMP's Uttara Division, Md. Rezaul Karim, confirmed that River Police took over Deep's custody from the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to pinpoint the exact murder scene, recover Tahsif's missing motorcycle, and identify co-conspirators.
