Speaking at an exchange meeting and memento presentation ceremony for the Dhaka Theater Festival at the Nagar Bhaban Auditorium on Monday evening (September 28, 2026), the DSCC Administrator stated that healthy cultural practices are indispensable for fostering patriotism and humanity. Noting that cultural activities in the capital have declined in recent years, Abdus Salam declared the city corporation's commitment to expanding cultural spaces across Dhaka. He announced plans to enlarge next year's theater festival by organizing stage and street plays across various neighborhoods, with DSCC offering infrastructure support. Furthermore, he revealed that the Jayarang Auditorium has been reopened for cultural troupes, with usage fees set at a nominal BDT 5,000 to cover basic electricity costs.
