The deep depression over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining west-central Bay has crossed the North Andhra Pradesh–South Odisha coast of India, but its lingering impact continues to trigger squally weather conditions along the coastal belt of Bangladesh. Consequently, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has advised the maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla, and Payra to keep local cautionary signal No. 3 hoisted.
Special weather bulletins signed by meteorologists Md. Shaheenul Islam and A. K. M. Nazmul Hoque on Thursday (September 24, 2026) confirmed that the system, now positioned over land as a land deep depression, is moving further west-northwestward and weakening gradually. However, under its influence, squally winds are likely to affect the North Bay, maritime ports, and adjoining coastal regions of Bangladesh. All fishing boats and trawlers operating in the North Bay have been instructed to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.
Additionally, the BMD issued cautionary signal No. 1 for inland river ports in Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Faridpur, and Madaripur regions, where temporary gusty or squally winds reaching speeds of 45–60 km/h accompanied by rain or thundershowers are expected. Light to moderate rain or thundershowers with heavy falls in isolated places across Rangpur, Rajshahi, Khulna, and Barishal divisions are forecasted to persist, with day and night temperatures dropping slightly nationwide.
