Although the deep depression over the Bay of Bengal has begun weakening after making landfall, strong monsoon conditions over the North Bay are expected to trigger moderate to heavy rainfall across four divisions in Bangladesh, according to a weather bulletin issued by meteorologist A. K. M. Nazmul Hoque on Thursday (September 24, 2026).
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) reported that light to moderate rain or thundershowers with gusty winds are likely over many places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Khulna, and Barishal divisions, as well as isolated places across Dhaka, Mymensingh, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions through Friday morning. Moderately heavy to heavy rainfall is expected in isolated pockets across Rangpur, Rajshahi, Khulna, and Barishal, bringing a slight drop in day and night temperatures nationwide. Similar conditions with scattered heavy downpours will persist through Friday and Saturday (September 25–26). However, the BMD projects a gradual reduction in rainfall starting Sunday (September 27), leading to a 1–2°C rise in daytime and nighttime temperatures across the country heading into early next week.
