In a major stride toward boosting renewable energy, the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) has undertaken comprehensive initiatives to install various solar power projects with a cumulative capacity of 689 megawatts across the country using its own financing by 2030.

BPDB officials confirmed that preliminary development project proposals (PDPP), feasibility studies, and detailed project proposals (DPP) have already been finalized for grid-connected solar installations. Notably, a detailed project proposal for a 442 MW solar plant in Rampala has been forwarded to the ministry for formal approval.

Authorities noted that these green energy ventures will significantly aid Bangladesh in fulfilling international climate commitments, reduce environmental stress, and encourage private rooftop solar adoption.
