Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, former Media Advisor to ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, was taken into custody by the Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Wednesday, November 4, 2026. The intervention took place at the office of private television channel DBC News in Mohakhali, Dhaka, from where he was transported to DB headquarters.

DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media) Md. Akhter Hossain and Additional Commissioner of Police (DB) Md. Shafiqul Islam clarified that Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury has not been formally arrested or detained. Additional CP Shafiqul Islam explained that DB personnel acted after receiving reports of an attempted mob confrontation while Chowdhury was visiting the DBC office. Police intervened to secure his safety and bring him in for questioning regarding the purpose of his visit and related matters.
