During the meeting, both foreign ministers expressed satisfaction over the expanding bilateral relationship between the two nations, recalling Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's historic official state visit to Malaysia in June 2026. Discussions focused heavily on trade, investment, and migrant worker welfare. The ministers emphasized the need to fast-track the finalization of the Bilateral Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and agreed on joint monitoring and inspection mechanisms to guarantee fairness, transparency, and equity in Bangladeshi worker recruitment within Malaysia's labor market. Furthermore, Foreign Minister Mohamad Hasan assured Malaysia's active support for Bangladesh's aspirations to become an ASEAN Sectoral Dialogue Partner and its accession into the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) agreement.
