The gazette outlines a breakdown comprising 14 general national holidays and 15 holidays declared under executive orders. However, because 7 of these holidays coincide with weekly weekend days (Fridays and Saturdays), public sector employees will effectively enjoy 22 working days off throughout the calendar year.

The policy applies to all government, semi-government, statutory, autonomous, and semi-autonomous offices across Bangladesh. The official schedule follows formal approval granted during the Cabinet meeting held at the Secretariat on Monday, November 2, 2026, chaired by Prime Minister Tariq Rahman. Additionally, civil servants remain entitled to take up to three optional religious holidays annually subject to administrative approval and lunar sightings where applicable.
