President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has called for prudence and effective regulation in the adoption and expansion of artificial intelligence (AI), warning that technological advancements must serve human welfare without intensifying the national unemployment crisis. Speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration of the "Bangladesh AI Business Summit-2026" at the China Friendship Conference Center (BICC) in Dhaka on Thursday, November 5, 2026, the President urged business leaders and policymakers to ensure technology remains under human control.
President Fakhrul noted that artificial intelligence is poised to revolutionize key sectors of the domestic economy—including agriculture, education, healthcare, manufacturing, and trade—over the coming decade. While identifying AI as a potential catalyst to boost productivity, modernize ready-made garments (RMG) and emerging industries, and drive the nation's journey toward a $1 trillion economy by 2041, he cautioned against viewing AI strictly as a cost-cutting measure. Instead, he urged the private sector to leverage AI for creating innovative products, expanding markets, and generating dignified employment for the youth.
