Mirpur-11 Metro Rail Station Temporarily Closed Amid Escalating Garment Worker-Police Clashes Over Minimum Wage
The Mirpur-11 Metro Rail Station following the temporary suspension of commercial operations due to nearby RMG worker demonstrations.

Commercial operations at the Mirpur-11 Metro Rail Station have been temporarily suspended on Tuesday morning, November 3, 2026, due to violent clashes and repeated altercations between protesting readymade garment (RMG) workers and police forces on surrounding streets.

The decision was confirmed by the MRT Police Control Room, citing overall passenger safety and infrastructure security as street violence intensified in the Mirpur-11 section. Under current protocols, metro trains are completely bypassing the Mirpur-11 station without stopping for boarding or alighting. However, train operations across all other stations on the Dhaka Metro Line-6 system remain normal and unaffected.

The street demonstrations mark the fourth consecutive day of garment worker protests demanding a ৳30,000 minimum monthly wage. Authorities noted that once the surrounding security situation stabilizes, commercial services at Mirpur-11 station will be immediately restored.
