Traffic Normalizes in Mirpur Following Police Clashes; 4 Detained as SRB and Armored Vehicles Remain Deployed
Traffic flowing smoothly through the Mirpur-11 area following the restoration of public order by security forces.

Traffic movement in Dhaka's Mirpur area returned to normal on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, following morning clashes between police and demonstrators near the Mirpur-11 intersection. Authorities confirmed that four individuals were detained during the crowd dispersal operations, while the temporarily suspended Mirpur-11 Metro Rail Station was successfully reopened to commuters.

The confrontation began around 10:00 AM as groups occupied thoroughfares demanding a ৳30,000 minimum wage. When police initiated clearance operations, protesters threw brickbats, prompting law enforcement to deploy tear gas and sound grenades. The resulting gridlock paralyzed traffic between Mirpur-10 and Pallabi for over an hour before security forces pushed agitators into surrounding alleyways and restored order by 11:30 AM.

Md. Touhidul Arif, Deputy Commissioner of DMP's POM South Division, reiterated that genuine garment workers had already agreed to return to work following the establishment of the early Minimum Wage Board. He emphasized that those remaining on the streets are non-worker miscreants attempting to create instability. To prevent further unrest, law enforcement maintained a heavy security posture across Mirpur, positioning water cannons, two armored personnel carriers, and Special Response Battalion (SRB) units at key checkpoints.
