Naval Police Chief: Police Will File Case if Tahsif's Family Does Not
Naval Police and investigative personnel conducting operations along the Turag River waterway.

Naval Police Chief and Additional Inspector General Mo. Rezaul Karim has announced that if the family of former BAF Flight Lieutenant KM Tahsif Suri fails to file a formal murder or unnatural death case, the police will initiate legal proceedings as the plaintiff.

Speaking on Friday afternoon, October 30, 2026, Addl. IGP Rezaul Karim confirmed that while family discussions regarding a formal case are currently pending, law enforcement is fully prepared to take legal ownership of the investigation. Uttarkhan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mo. Habib revealed that he personally contacted Tahsif's father, urging him to visit the station to register a formal complaint.

Tahsif went missing on the night of Tuesday, October 27, after leaving his home following a call from junior acquaintance Ahmed Shahriar Reza Dweep. CCTV footage previously captured the two men shaking hands before departing on separate motorbikes. On Wednesday afternoon, Naval Police recovered Tahsif's body from the Turag River near Rajabari Ghat following an emergency 999 call, identifying him through the iPhone and wristwatch found in his pockets. While PBI continues interrogating Dweep in custody and verifies ownership of an unplated motorcycle recovered near the Mazar Slum, authorities are moving swiftly to establish the exact sequence of events leading to the tragic death.
