Prime Minister Tariq Rahman declared that the core pledge of historic National Revolution and Solidarity Day must be to ensure that no force ever again robs the nation of its sovereignty or transforms Bangladesh into a subservient state. Speaking as the chief guest at the Banani Army Stadium in Dhaka on Saturday, November 7, 2026, the Prime Minister emphasized that solidifying national unity across political, social, and religious lines is essential to protecting the country's independence.
PM Rahman drew historic parallels across Bangladesh’s pivotal milestones—the 1971 Liberation War, the November 7, 1975 Sepoy-People's Uprising, the 1990 Anti-Autocracy Movement, and the August 5, 2024 Anti-Fascist Mass Uprising—noting that citizens have repeatedly demonstrated that Bangladesh comes above all else. Recalling November 1975, he highlighted how patriotic soldiers and citizens freed independence proclaimer Lieutenant General Ziaur Rahman from house arrest to defeat anti-sovereignty plots. He noted that whenever Bangladesh strayed from the spirit of November 7, its sovereignty was threatened, citing the Pilkhana tragedy and subsequent authoritarian rule until the 2024 student-led revolution restored democratic freedom.
