Industrial and infrastructure expansion underway in Mongla following new bilateral investment agreements with Chinese state-owned enterprises.

Prime Minister Tariq Rahman announced that the government will build a comprehensive energy infrastructure network linking Mongla Port to the northern region of Bangladesh. Speaking at an event in Mongla, Bagerhat on Thursday, November 5, 2026, the Prime Minister stressed that securing an uninterrupted supply of electricity and natural gas is essential to accelerating industrialization and economic activity across the northern districts.
