Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tariq Rahman has stated that the previous fascist regime inflicted severe social and moral decay upon the state alongside destroying political institutions. Speaking at the grand Gram Police Convention at the National Parade Ground in Dhaka on Saturday, November 7, 2026, the Prime Minister noted that partisan actors deliberately engineered familial and grassroots disputes to erode Bangladesh’s traditional cultural values of harmony, empathy, and mutual respect.

Emphasizing that law enforcement alone cannot resolve societal challenges, PM Rahman asserted that restoring religious, family, and social moral values alongside community-level harmony is essential for curbing crime. Highlighting the pivotal grassroots role of local administration, he formally enacted a comprehensive welfare and salary enhancement package for over 40,000 Gram Police personnel nationwide, effective immediately on National Revolution and Solidarity Day.

Key financial and structural adjustments include raising monthly salaries to ৳10,500 for members and ৳11,000 for chiefs, introducing a ৳200 monthly mobile allowance, increasing weekly Thana travel allowances (up to ৳500–600), and raising retirement gratuities (up to ৳100,000). Furthermore, to advance women's empowerment, the government will recruit two female Gram Police members per Union with six months of paid maternity leave, while establishing a dedicated "Gram Police Road" forestry revenue-sharing initiative across local unions.
