Prime Minister Tarique Rahman paid his first official courtesy call on President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir at Bangabhaban on Tuesday afternoon (September 29, 2026), marking the first meeting between the head of state and head of government since the assumption of presidential duties.
Upon his arrival at Bangabhaban around 3:00 PM, the Prime Minister was received by the President and introduced to high-ranking officials of the presidential establishment, including the Military Secretary, Secretary, and Press Secretary. During their bilateral session, Prime Minister Rahman briefed President Alamgir on his recent official visit to the United States, including his participation in the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) and high-level sideline meetings with heads of state, UN Secretary-General leadership, and international development agencies. President Alamgir commended the Prime Minister's address at the UN General Assembly as visionary and directive, stating that it effectively articulated Bangladesh's national interests, democratic aspirations, and foreign policy stance while bolstering the nation's diplomatic standing on the global stage.
