An individual accused in 16 cases has been arrested with 21 pieces of Yaba tablets in Kuakata, Patuakhali. Mohipur Thana Police arrested him around 5:30 PM on Sunday (September 6) in front of Hotel South Star on Rakhine Market Road under Kuakata Municipality. The arrested person was identified as Masud Rana (30), an identified narcotics dealer.

As part of the nationwide special drive, an alert police team conducted the operation based on secret intelligence. The operational team included Mohipur Police Station SI Md. Samsul Alam, SI Mahmudul Hasan, ASI Md. Abul Bashar, and ASI Md. Hasan Masud.

Arrested Masud Rana is the son of late Abdul Kader Fakir from Rahmatpur area under Ward No. 3 of Kalapara Municipality. He currently resides at House No. 9 of the Nilganj Abasan project under Ward No. 1 of Nilganj Union.

Upon checking police PCPR records, it was revealed that Masud Rana faces 10 previous narcotics cases alongside 6 other charges. According to the police, he is an identified drug trader in Kalapara Upazila.

A case has been registered at Mohipur Police Station under Section 36(1) Table 10(Ka) of the Narcotics Control Act, 2018. SI Md. Zahirul Islam of Mohipur Police Station is investigating the case.

Mohipur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Shamim Hawlader said that special drives by Mohipur Thana Police remain ongoing to eradicate drugs. He stated that lawful action will be taken against those involved in narcotics peddling and supply, adding that such police drives will continue regularly to build a drug-free society.
