Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and local villagers have foiled an attempt to push 25 to 30 Indian nationals into Bangladesh through the Gobindapur border in Birampur Upazila, Dinajpur. Due to the prompt intervention of BGB personnel and local residents, India's Border Security Force (BSF) was compelled to take them back into Indian territory after failing to push them through. Following the incident, local residents remain on high alert alongside the BGB to prevent further push-in bids, with villagers seen patrolling areas adjacent to the border throughout the night. The incident took place around 11:00 PM on Sunday near pillar 289/46-S along the Gobindapur border under Daudpur BOP in Katla Union, confirmed Daudpur BOP Camp Commander Naib Subedar Mahabur Rahman.

Speaking to BGB members and local eyewitnesses revealed that around 11:00 PM, BSF personnel attempted to push a group of Indian nationals past the barbed-wire fence into Bangladesh. Noticing the maneuver, several local residents near the border raised alarms to alert nearby villagers, prompting both BGB personnel and locals to rush to the spot. Confronted with the immediate presence and resistance of the locals, BSF members were forced to retreat with the individuals into Indian territory. The development created tension and prompted heightened vigilance across the border belt. An on-site visit to the Gobindapur border area around 12:30 AM showed both men and women from the village stationed at various intersections and border points armed with sticks, while BGB troops maintained an alert posture across different posts. Locals noted that they were maintaining an all-night vigil across the border belt in coordination with the BGB.

Rakhen Molla, a local eyewitness, stated that he was standing in a field near his home when he noticed several Indian nationals attempting to enter Bangladesh, prompting him to shout and alert the neighborhood before the combined arrival of villagers and BGB forced the BSF to pull them back. Another resident, Rubel Hossain, said that after being resisted initially, an attempt was made shortly afterward to push them in through an adjoining stretch, but villagers thwarted that bid as well. Nur Islam, an Indian resident living near the zero line, reported seeing around 28 people in the group, including four women and 24 men, claiming they were accompanied by BSF and Indian police personnel before being escorted back inside the Indian barbed-wire perimeter around 1:00 AM. Daudpur BOP Camp Commander Naib Subedar Mahabur Rahman affirmed that the push-in attempt was thwarted with the cooperation of local villagers, adding that troops remain on maximum alert while BGB surveillance and border patrols have been intensified to prevent recurring push-in attempts.
