Government's 6-Month Performance Evaluation: Decline in 19 Out of 31 Indicators, Relief in 12
Private research organization Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) has released an evaluation report on the current government's performance over its first six months. The published evaluation states that out of a total of 31 indicators in the country's macroeconomy, governance, and social sectors, desired progress was lacking in 19, which instead saw a decline. However, only 12 indicators remain in a comforting state.
CPD's review notes that the government is facing multifaceted challenges in controlling inflation,
increasing investments, and stabilizing foreign exchange reserves. Particularly, the high prices of daily commodities have created immense pressure on ordinary people's living standards. Nonetheless, the continuation of positive trends in export earnings and remittances has been identified as one of the relieving aspects of the economy. Economists believe the government should place utmost importance on structural reforms and ensuring good governance to overcome current economic challenges.
