A portion of a bridge in the Kachipara Bindhir Dhar area of No. 6 Radhanagar Union in Badarganj upazila, Rangpur, has been lying broken for about four years. As the bridge has not been repaired for a long time, local residents have made a bamboo bridge over the broken part and are moving around at risk. This constantly creates the fear of accidents during crossing.

Locals mentioned that after a part of the bridge broke, there was initially no alternative arrangement. Later, they constructed a narrow bamboo bridge on their own initiative. Currently, farmers, students, women, children, elderly people, and businessmen have to move through that bridge. Going to the spot, it was seen that a part of the bridge is broken, and there is a narrow bamboo bridge for travel over the broken place. Some parts of the soil under the bridge have collapsed, and cracks are also visible in several places. With water flowing underneath, the risk increases further during the monsoon season.

Locals stated that the bridge is so narrow that multiple people cannot move together. Especially during the crossing of children and elderly people, relatives have to be extra cautious. Farmers are also facing various problems in transporting crops and heavy goods. Local resident Omar Faruq said the matter of repairing the bridge has been informed to the relevant authorities at various times, but a permanent solution has not been achieved despite a long time.

Nurul Islam said about 15,000 people use this bridge, and due to it remaining broken for a long time, the suffering of the local people knows no bounds. Another local resident, Anisul Islam, mentioned that from taking farmers' produce to market to students going to school, problems are arising in all aspects. Local residents demand that the bridge be repaired quickly to ensure safe crossing, along with the sustainable repair of the connecting roads on both sides. Regarding this, Badarganj Upazila Engineer Harun Or Rashid said a proposal has been sent for the bridge, and work will begin as soon as allocation arrives.
