Oman to Recruit 10,000 Farmers and Fishers from Bangladesh
Oman is set to recruit 10,000 workers from Bangladesh, comprising 5,000 agricultural workers and 5,000 fishers.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obayd Islam shared the information during a press briefing on Wednesday (September 9), following a meeting with a visiting delegation from Oman at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
"Our government has held discussions with Oman's Ministry of Agriculture. An Omani delegation visited and conveyed their intention to recruit 5,000 farmers and 5,000 fishers—totaling 10,000 personnel. An agreement has been signed in this regard," the state minister said.
She added that another delegation from Oman is scheduled to arrive next month to finalize the recruitment process through consultations with the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment.
Addressing the current visa restrictions, Shama Obayd noted that labor visa issuance by Oman was previously suspended due to various reasons under the past administration. She affirmed that the government is actively engaging in diplomatic efforts to fully restore regular migration channels for Bangladeshi workers to Oman.
