Youth Arrested with 12 Bottles of Indian Liquor at Checkpost in Purbadhala's Shyamganj

Police arrested a young man named Md. Sujan Mia (28) along with 12 bottles of Indian liquor after conducting a search on a passenger bus at a checkpost in Shyamganj, Purbadhala, Netrokona.

The arrest took place on Tuesday (September 8, 2026) around 3:30 PM during a drive conducted in front of the Shyamganj Police Investigation Center. Arrested Sujan Mia is the son of Md. Hasen Ali from Choitanagar village in Kalmakanda upazila.

Police stated that a police team led by SI Harunur Rashid was on duty at the checkpost in front of the Shyamganj Police Investigation Center. At that time, a Dhaka-bound passenger bus named "Chandradinga Travels" coming from Kalmakanda (Registration No. Dhaka Metro Bo-15-8927) was searched. During the search, 12 bottles of Indian liquor were recovered from passenger Sujan Mia, with an estimated market value of Tk 42,000.

Purbadhala Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun confirmed the matter, stating that a narcotics case has been filed against the detainee, and the accused will be sent to court.
