President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has called upon the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to bring corrupt individuals to justice through fair and impartial investigations, regardless of how influential or powerful they may be.

The President made the call on Thursday (September 10) afternoon when a delegation led by Anti-Corruption Commission Chairman Justice A.K.M. Asaduzzaman paid a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban.

The delegation also included Commissioner (Investigation) Dr. Jahangir Alam Khan, Commissioner (Inquiry) Dr. Md. Sajjad Hossain Bhuiyan, and Secretary Md. Saidur Rahman Khan.

During the meeting, the ACC Chairman briefed the President on the overall activities of the commission, its ongoing initiatives, and the existing challenges faced in discharging its duties. He sought the President's cooperation to make the commission's anti-graft operations more effective.

Speaking on the occasion, President Alamgir noted that corruption has emerged as one of Bangladesh's primary challenges due to prolonged misrule, irregularities, and a lack of accountability. He emphasized that the nation’s progress and future prosperity depend directly on curbing and controlling graft, urging the ACC to function with integrity and courage.

The President urged the commission to expedite the legal disposal of the large volume of long-pending cases to eliminate procedural delays. He stressed the need for rapid inquiries and stern action against high-level financial irregularities and serious corruption offenses.

Additionally, he highlighted the importance of strengthening public awareness campaigns to foster anti-corruption values across society. President Alamgir assured the commission of full presidential support in executing its constitutional and legal mandates effectively.
