There was a time when female entrepreneur Shiuli Begum had the desire to work but lacked opportunities, spending her days sitting idle at home without a way to contribute financially to her family. Among such home-bound women, some knew tailoring, some cut clothes, and others had a deep passion to learn any work for extra income. A small apparel factory established in Taluk Dulali Paglar Chora area of Velabari Union under Aditmari Upazila, Lalmonirhat, has now sparked a ray of hope in the hearts of those women. Jointly initiated by the husband-wife duo in their homestead, the factory employs over a hundred local women, with activities ranging from morning till afternoon including coloring, cutting, and designing clothes.

Factory entrepreneurs Asadul Habib and Shiuli Begum shared that 4–5 years ago they moved to Dhaka in search of livelihood and earned by making clothes, but driven by love for their hometown, they returned to start a new initiative. An on-site investigation by this correspondent highlighted these stories of women's entrepreneurship. Taking up a challenging endeavor to create self-employment for themselves and job opportunities for local unemployed women, the small-scale initiative with low capital is gradually expanding, with future plans to increase production and engage more women.

The couple noted that starting initially by themselves, the workforce has grown to about a hundred women producing dresses, ornas, and three-pieces supplied against market orders from various cities. Female worker Anisha Khatun mentioned that previously she had to endure scorching sun and rain searching for unstable work, but now working in her local area has greatly improved her family's livelihood. Another worker, Riya Akhter, explained that instead of sitting idle, they now perform boutique work like attaching sequins, either at the factory or right at home, providing a great medium for local earning.

Velabari Union Parishad member and district branch joint convener Abdul Karim stated that launching such a small apparel factory in their neglected region is a matter of great pride, enabling unemployed women to contribute to their families, and urged government support to foster small industrial factories and entrepreneurs in Aditmari. Aditmari Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Gunjan Biswas remarked that establishing such small garment factories in remote rural areas to create employment for unemployed women is an excellent initiative, assuring that the administration will provide all-out cooperation to entrepreneurs of such factories.
