BMD Issues Warning Signal No. 1 for River Ports Across Eight Regions

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has issued a warning bulletin for river ports across eight inland regions, forecasting temporary squally winds reaching speeds up to 60 km/h alongside rain or thundershowers.

According to an inland river port bulletin issued by Assistant Meteorologist Kazi Jebunnesa valid until 1:00 AM, rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally winds blowing from the south or south-east at speeds of 45 to 60 km/h are likely over specific inland zones.

Affected Regions and Cautionary Signals

River ports across the following eight regions have been advised to hoist Cautionary Signal No. 1:

  • Covered Regions: Rajshahi, Pabna, Bogura, Dhaka, Faridpur, Jashore, Kushtia, and Khulna.

  • Wind Speed & Direction: South or south-easterly gusts ranging between 45 and 60 km/h.

  • Precipitation: Light to moderate rain or thundershowers with localized squalls.

Nationwide Weather Outlook and Temperature Trends

In its morning bulletin, the Met Office forecasted light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds in many places across Rangpur, Dhaka, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions, and at a few places over Rajshahi, Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram divisions. Moderately heavy rainfall may occur at isolated locations nationwide.

Additionally, mild heatwave conditions currently affecting Dhaka, Faridpur, Rangpur, Jashore, and Khulna districts are expected to abate. Both day and night temperatures across the country are projected to drop slightly over the next 24 hours.
