Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is scheduled to depart for New York on Monday (September 21) to attend the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). He will deliver his address to the General Assembly on September 24.

According to sources at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Prime Minister’s official trip to the United States has been condensed. Following his address on September 24, he is scheduled to depart New York for Dhaka on the night of September 25.

During the visit, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will participate in several high-level UN sessions and hold bilateral meetings with heads of state and government from various nations. He will also take part in Bangladesh-hosted side events focusing on pressing global issues, including the ongoing Rohingya humanitarian crisis.

Key Meetings and Engagements

The Prime Minister’s itinerary includes high-level engagements with international leaders and agency heads:

• International Agency Heads: Scheduled bilateral talks with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk, and World Bank Group President Ajay Banga.

• Diplomatic Engagements: Attendance at the official dinner hosted by US President Donald Trump for visiting heads of state and delegation leaders.

• Bilateral & Multilateral Discussions: Focused side-line dialogues aimed at strengthening multilateral cooperation, regional stability, and international support for Bangladesh's development goals.
