Yemeni Army Claims 30 Houthi Fighters Killed in 24-Hour Clashes in Taiz
Clashes between the Yemeni Armed Forces and Iran-backed Houthi fighters in the Al-Waziyah district west of Taiz have left 30 Houthi militants dead over a 24-hour period spanning Wednesday to Thursday.
According to a official statement released by the Yemeni Armed Forces Media Center on Friday (September 18), over 60 Houthi fighters were also wounded during the offensive. In parallel ground engagements, the Yemeni Air Force targeted Houthi military vehicles and gathering points across active front lines.
The military statement further highlighted that prior to the engagements in Al-Waziyah, Yemeni forces conducted targeted operations against Houthi supply lines, troop deployments, and armories in Taiz and the Red Sea port city of Mocha.
Escalating Conflicts in Southern Governorates
The military update comes amid heightened hostilities involving Yemeni state forces, Houthi fighters, and Saudi-led coalition air support across southern regions:
Al-Waziyah Offensives: Yemeni ground units and air support neutralized 30 militants and disabled military transports in key combat zones.
Disruption of Supply Routes: Operations targeted Houthi logistics nodes in both Taiz and Mocha to prevent further troop reinforcements.
Southern Front Casualties: Parallel engagements involving Yemeni army elements and Saudi airstrikes in two southern provinces resulted in 23 army fatalities and 40 Houthi casualties.
