Conflicting public statements made by Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmad and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mo. Ali Hossain Fakir regarding extrajudicial "crossfires" demonstrate a critical lack of coordination between the government and law enforcement, according to Sheikh Fazlul Karim Maruf, Assistant Secretary General of Islami Andolan Bangladesh (IAB) and President of its Dhaka City South unit.
Addressing the monthly meeting of IAB’s Dhaka City South branch on Friday, October 30, 2026, Sheikh Fazlul Karim Maruf highlighted a recent public contradiction between top law enforcement and security authorities. During a recent event, IGP Mo. Ali Hossain Fakir remarked, "Where crossfire is required, we will carry it out if the government grants permission." However, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmad directly rejected the police chief's statement shortly afterward, declaring that the government does not support crossfires and maintains a "zero tolerance" policy toward extrajudicial actions.

Additionally, KM Shariatullah, Central Media Cell Chief Coordinator and IAB Dhaka South Secretary, criticized the government for failing to implement recommendations from the State Reform Commission nine months after coming to power, warning that continued delay in honoring public mandates would provoke widespread public backlash.
