Work Unitedly to Reorganize BNP for Next Elections: Dhaka South City Administrator Abdus Salam

Bir Muktijoddha Mo. Abdus Salam, Administrator of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and Advisor to the BNP Chairman, has called on party leaders and activists to work in unity to reorganize the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and prepare for the upcoming general election.

Addressing a prayer and milad mahfil in Jatrabari, Dhaka, on Thursday, October 29, 2026, held in memory of former MP and BNP Central Committee Commercial Affairs Secretary late Alhaj Salahuddin Ahmed and former Councilor late Badal Sardar, Abdus Salam warned against internal division. "Creating a party within a party only causes harm to ourselves. Without the party, there is no strength; there is no alternative to a unified political organization," he remarked. Clarifying the organizational hierarchy, he noted that apart from founder Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, and Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, every single member in the party operates strictly as a general activist.

Recalling the party's 17-year struggle against political repression, Abdus Salam highlighted the countless lawsuits and incarcerations endured by grassroots workers. Addressing criticism regarding state governance, he urged critics and the public to grant reasonable time for the government to resolve inherited systemic issues in the electricity, gas, water, and banking sectors. The prayer gathering was presided over by Nabiullah Nabi, former Acting Convener of Dhaka City South BNP, with senior regional leaders in attendance.
