A seven-member delegation led by Bangladesh Labour Party Chairman Mostafizur Rahman Iran met with Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin at the Nirbachan Bhaban in Agargaon, Dhaka. During the meeting, the party urged the commission to suspend declaring local government election schedules until postal voting facilities are established for non-resident Bangladeshis. The delegation emphasized amending electoral laws and regulatory frameworks where necessary to accommodate postal voting. Mostafizur Rahman Iran stated that enabling non-resident citizens to vote in local polls would deepen democratic participation, urging the EC to release a time-bound roadmap and execute pilot postal voting projects in selected local administrative units if needed.
