
Leader of the Opposition and Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, MP, departed Dhaka on Wednesday morning for Turkey to attend the 'Second International Conference on Bangladesh Studies' as chief guest.
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman boarded a Turkey-bound flight at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) on Wednesday morning (October 7, 2026). He was seen off at the airport by Jamaat Secretary General and former MP Mia Golam Parwar, Assistant Secretary General and Central Publicity and Media Secretary Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair, and Central Executive Council Member Md. Mubarak Hossain. Hosted jointly by Istanbul University and the Centre for Policy and Social Research (CPSR), the international academic conference centers on the theme "Multidimensional Perspectives on Bangladesh 2.0 Reforms and New Horizons of Turkey-Bangladesh Cooperation." The summit brings together prominent academics, policy strategists, diplomats, researchers, and institutional leaders from Bangladesh, Turkey, and across the globe. Following the conclusion of the Istanbul conference, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman is scheduled to travel to Saudi Arabia to perform the holy Umrah pilgrimage before returning to Dhaka on the morning of October 11.
