A formal legal notice has been issued to Nasiruddin Patwary, Senior Joint Convener of the National Citizen Party (NCP), demanding an unconditional public apology for making alleged false, fabricated, and defamatory statements against Water Resources Minister and BNP Joint Secretary General Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie.
Supreme Court advocate Md. Yasin Arafat (Samrat) sent the notice on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, on behalf of Advocate Mahmudur Rahman Mission Bhuiyan, Co-Office Secretary of Lakshmipur District Swechchhasebak Dal and Joint Convener of Pourashava Swechchhasebak Dal. The notice stipulates a strict 15-day ultimatum for Patwary to retract his speech and tender a public apology, failing which formal criminal proceedings will be initiated under Sections 499 and 500 of the Penal Code, 1860.
