PM's Political Assistant Rashed Khan Criticizes Jamaat for Welcoming Ex-MP Major (Retd.) Akhtaruzzaman into Party
Prime Minister's Office administration corridor in Dhaka, reflecting active political developments and government communications.

Political Assistant to the Prime Minister Rashed Khan issued a sharp political critique against Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami for formally welcoming former BNP Member of Parliament Major (Retd.) Akhtaruzzaman into the party fold.

In a verified Facebook post published on Tuesday night, November 3, 2026, Rashed Khan stated that the public is characterizing the reception ceremony as "the 1971 Razakar flower-welcoming the 2024 Razakar!" Rashed recalled how, during the peak of the July 2024 anti-authoritarian student-led uprising, Major Akhtaruzzaman appeared on the talk show Face the People hosted by anchor Sagar and explicitly labeled all protesters—including Rashed Khan and Jamaat-Shibir activists—as "one hundred percent children of Razakars."

Rashed Khan further mocked the rapid ideological shift, pointing out that an individual who previously termed Jamaat a terrorist organization has now mastered political slogans alongside the Jamaat Ameer. He satirically questioned whether even ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina would be granted entry into Jamaat if she apologized. Pointing out an awkward moment during the induction press meet where Akhtaruzzaman referenced General Yahya Khan and the 1971 liberation war, Rashed noted that while the Jamaat Ameer lauded Akhtaruzzaman as a "leader of all Bangladeshi people," his past remarks and sudden transformation expose severe political opportunism.
